As you may know from my previous posts I am a tea fiend. Give me a cup of tea and a good book and I’m one happy girl, I’ve been reading about the benefits of green tea and specifically matcha green tea – so when I saw that Pukka herbs had come out with this blend of both super power teas I knew I had to try it!
Matcha powder is notoriously expensive (think about £25.00 for a jar) so to be able to get the benefits of matcha powder for an affordable price really appealed to me. I picked up a pack in my local Tesco for £2.39 (but it’s currently on offer for £1.89). For this price you get 20 individually wrapped tea bags, I like to have a cup of this first thing in the morning to wake me up so this should last me a fair while.
To brew this tea I boil the kettle and allow it to cool for about 5 minutes, then I add the teabag and steep for about 5 minutes, I like to drink my tea fairly lukewarm (I know that’s probably weird) so this works perfectly for me. The taste is lovely, I find that plain green tea can taste quite bitter but with the added matcha powder it adds a lovely natural sweetness!
Because theres only a low level of matcha powder in the tea bag I’m not sure how much of the benefits I’m actually getting, but I figured it was better than none! I try not to drink too many cups as green tea naturally contains caffeine but I enjoy a cup first thing in the morning to perk me up!
Do you like green tea? Has anyone tried matcha powder?
